Here some of the highlights from our main committee meeting yesterday:
Maria Danishvar at The American Museum – Friday 10th
There are still tickets left for this musical evening in the fabulous gardens at the American Museum. It looks like the weather might be kind to us (but there is a indoor wet weather back up). Last House Standing, a guided history walk – 10th October
This walk will take us through the Angel Place, Oak Street and Lower Wellsway with the guided walk discovering the history of this working area of the Widcombe with historians Stuart Burroughs and Phil Bendall. On the subject of local history, we have had a positive response from a number of our members about being involved with a re-launched Widcombe & Lyncombe History Society. Watch out for more information in the next few weeks.
Solar Heating: Go Green Widcombe will be distributing leaflets to households in Widcombe about opportunities for Solar Heating and two opportunities to join bulk-buy discount schemes if you are considering going green. You can get a preview of the leaflet at http://www.widcombeassociation.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/GGW-Flyer-for-Solar-PV-printed-.pdf
Subway: Hopefully you have had a chance to walk through the newly decorated and transformed subway. It’s been received with acclaim. Some have commented the ramps are unfinished, which is correct as the funds only went so far. But the committee has agreed to set aside some further funds to get the artist back to add to the design further, probably in the spring. Thanks again to Helen, her team and everyone who supported the scheme whether through sponsorship or individual donation.
Date for your diary: Our Annual General Meeting will be on the 28th October
Thank you
