Purpose Built Student Accommodation
B&NES Council plan to stop speculative development of more PBSAs and have drafted a new planning policy that would require student accommodation to be built on the campus of the two universities in Bath, ending speculative student developments in the city, driven solely by profit.
Your Committee supports this policy (called H2A) and would ask members to respond to the consultation to put an end to speculative student development in the city. You can respond online via the BaNES website, or request a form from planning_policy@bathnes.gov.uk. Individuals may also express support for this topic with our MP at Back the plan to stop speculative developments (werahobhouse.co.uk)
Go Green Widcombe
Recently Go Green Widcombe has been helping householders to produce renewable energy by getting involved in Solar Panel Bulk Purchase schemes. One option was outlined in a Zoom presentation run by local Solar Panel installer IDDEA (based in Westbury Wiltshire). A recording is available on the Go Green Widcombe website (here’s the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ycn1UcGWDuI). 6 local householders have already signed up to get a quotation. For more information, email ggwidcombe@gmail.com .
Last House Standing
Tickets for this event sold out very quickly and we are sorry to those who are disappointed not to be able to attend. There will however be a podcast so that people unable to come can listen or do the walk independently – we will you update when it is available.
Widcombe Association Annual General Meeting
Our AGM will be on Thursday 28 October on zoom. The meeting will start and 6pm and finish no later than 7.30. We will keep the formal business as brief as possible and then have a quiz. Further detail to come.
