GO GREEN WIDCOMBE EVENT – WEDNESDAY 21 FEBRUARY – 7pm
Experts Cathy Crozier-Cole (Home Energy Service Manager, BWCE) and Jonathan Logsdon (Retrofit Coordinator BWCE) will help you unpack the jargon to find your way through the retrofit maze, to make your home more sustainable. The discussion will help you identify the features of individual solutions and the key factors to support decisions when choosing which energy efficiency measures give you the greatest impact in terms of carbon cost and comfort in your home. This event is free and will be held in the Wharf Room at Widcombe Social Club. Doors open at 6.30pm for a 7.00pm start. Please book through https://widcombe-association.whitefuse.net/events/retrofitting-your-home-energy-efficient-measures.
2024 RIVER AVON LITTER PICK – SATURDAY 16 MARCH – 10am
This year’s Avon Litter Pick will take place on Saturday 16 March between 10am and 12pm. The ground to be cleared by the Widcombe Association will be the river path from Pulteney Weir to Churchill Bridge, and the Canal towpath from the Abbey View bridge to the locks in Widcombe. We also cover Widcombe Parade including the area behind the shops on both sides of the street. Litter pickers and refuse bags are supplied but you should bring your own gloves.
We need volunteers! If you would like to take part please let Mike Wrigley know on chairman@widcombeassociation.org.uk.
A STONE MASON’S ART: HOW YOUR HOUSE WAS BUILT – WEDNESDAY 27 MARCH
Advance notice of a talk to be given by a Master Mason at the Widcombe Social Club on 27 March. Further details will be available on the WIdcombe Association Events site soon.
CHANGES IN WIDCOMBE PARADE
A number of changes are happening in the Parade. The roofing company, Noads, a well known Bath firm, is now occupying the new office building on the site of the former public lavatories. As we all know, the Widcombe Deli had to move from its premises next to the Ram, but has now set up in the Ram alongside the pub business, and is in full operation. The other news is that, sadly, the current tenants in the White Hart are leaving but it is hoped that a well-known restaurant group in Bath will be taking-over the building.
DOGS IN BEECHEN CLIFF SCHOOL PLAYING FIELDS
As you will know, there is public access across the Beechen Cliff School playing fields. The School is concerned about the health problems from dogs fouling the grass, used both for formal games and by pupils during breaks and at lunch times. The School is also concerned about the potential dangers from free-running dogs when pupils are on the premises. The School has requested that the Residents’ Associations that border it ask people who own dogs and use the paths crossing the School premises to keep their dogs on a lead at all times.
Best wishes
Mike Wrigley
Chairman, and the main WA committee
