A final reminder that any copy for the spring edition must be with the editor this week. magazine@widcombeassociation.org.uk. The magazine will be distributed free to all Widcombe households by us willing band of volunteers during the early part of April.
WA Annual Meeting
Our AGM will be on Tuesday 9th April at Widcombe Social Club from 7.30 pm. Please see the attached notice.
Council Elections Hustings
Bath and North East Somerset Council elections will be on Thursday 2nd May, based on revised boundaries including the new Widcombe & Lyncombe Ward. Regular readers will recall tussles to achieve logical boundaries. WA will be hosting hustings with the candidates immediately following our AGM.
There will be another opportunity with the same candidates at Bear Flat Residents’ Association hustings on Friday 26th April from 8.15 pm at Beechen Cliff Methodist Church Hall. Further details contact: theroberthughes@live.co.uk
Subway
Work is now progressing on the subway following problems with a culvert close to the railway line. Watch this space for an invitation to submit artwork to the finished walls.
Garden Club
Andrew Tolman (former Senior Gardener at Highgrove) on less well known gardens to visit around the country, their owners, houses and plants. Wednesday 20th March from 7.30 pm, Widcombe Social Club. £4 (£3 WA members) on the door.
Leisure Centre
Finally, I’m happy to relay a warm message from Prof Rajani Naidoo (University of Bath) “On Thursdays the Bath Leisure Centre raises the temperature of the main pool. This would be great for those of us who are frail or for those like me who just prefer to swim in warmer water.”
