Active Travel Consultation Response
Bath & North East Somerset Council are currently consulting on three proposed schemes for promoting Active Travel. These are generating a lot of interest and press coverage which you may have seen.
We would encourage all members to respond to these consultations where they have an interest, in particular those that are likely to impact on Widcombe. The closure date is the 21 March 2021. The link to the BathNES consultation areas is as follows:
Active Travel Schemes https://beta.bathnes.gov.uk/active-travel-schemes
There are three schemes to comment on
- Combe Down to the University of Bath: Copseland
- City Centre to the University of Bath: Beckford Road and North Road
- A4 Upper Bristol Road
As an association the WA has written to the council with our overall views. We felt this was more appropriate than completing the on-line consultation as an organisation as this would not allow the subtlety needed for our response. We also recognise that there will be divergent views from across our membership on many of the questions raised.
The WA response is available here WA Active Travel Routes response
Bath River Line
There is also an early consultation taking place supported by the Council on proposals for developing a new linear park and people are being asked for ideas/improvements/issues along the route from Batheaston to Newbridge park and ride. The link is https://bathriverline.co.uk/index.php. WA have been directly contacted by Bath River Line and there is a clear desire to engage with local communities which is really positive. The WA as an organisation will respond so please let us know your views, in particular on how it relates to Widcombe. But also comment directly yourselves.
If you have any questions please contact Jeremy Boss (chairman@widcombeassociation.org.uk or Mike Wrigley or one of our committee members).
