Changes to the committee – Over the last few years the Committee has benefited greatly from the active involvement of Hilary Furlonger and Keith Palmer. With increasing pressures on their time both have now decided to step down. We thank them for all their hard work and wish them well. In their places we welcome Sian Lewis, who will take over the Chair of the Events sub-committee from Chris Rogers at the end of the month, and Mike Wrigley, who is joining us as member responsible for Traffic and Highways. A big welcome to them both.
Rossiter Road – The contractor assures us that work on the Parade is on schedule. However the local traders are experiencing very difficult conditions and we encourage all our members to shop locally whenever possible. The Rossiter Road Steering Group meets again next week when our representatives will do their best to ensure that work continues to time and that disruption is minimised.
The Future for WA – As the Rossiter Road scheme, the project for which WA was initially formed, nears its completion, we have been looking at the way forward for the WA. Over the past few months we have held two focus groups with a wide range of representatives from across the Widcombe community. This has helped us shape our future vision and what this might mean for the way we operate in future. We will be discussing our proposals at the Autumn Meeting and would really welcome your views, comments and questions.
Autumn Meeting – This will take place on Thursday October 23 rd at 7.30pm at Widcombe C of E Junior School. Representatives of the Rossiter Road Scheme contractors and members of our local police team will be attending to speak to us. We will also share our thoughts on the way ahead for the Association. Please do bring your input to this discussion.
Garden Club – The first meeting of the Garden Club, under the new leadership of Beverley Wallis, will take place on at 7.30 Wednesday October 15 th. See our website for full details.
