Here are this month’s Talking Points. Some things to consider as we all enjoy the summer.
Events
I hope you have all enjoyed the comprehensive series of events over the last few months, History Walks, Prosecco Tea at Crowe Hall, two garden visits, Widcombe Art Trail, regular walking and cycling and Tosca at Prior Park. There is one final summer event to come, the sold out Jazz on a Sunday afternoon. None of these would happen without our events committee who volunteer their time and expertise to run events for us all to enjoy. A particular thanks goes to Beverley Wallis who has chaired the events committee for the last year alongside running the garden club. She is stepping back from the chairing role and I am delighted to let you know that Clare Furlonger has agreed to take over. So thank you to all our volunteers and good luck to Clare.

BANES Consultations
There is a flurry of consultations that you might be interested in, all close to Widcombe. These are often not well publicised – the last one on the list I only found about today when looking for the information on the others! The deadlines are short so you should act quickly if you want your voice to be heard.

This is where Great Wine are located and the plans are predominantly for residential use (proposals are 96 co-living studios and some limited commercial space). Consultation on Scholars Way: Closes 8th August. This includes the section of the cycle path from Rainbow Wood to Bathwick Hill including the crossing at the top of Widcombe Hill and progressing along Copseland. Consultation on Bath Quays access links: Closes 8th August. This will have a significant impact on the design of the Lower Bristol Road alongside the Bath Quays development as it approaches Churchill Bridge. Including redesigned payments, cycle lanes and floating bus stops. The link to the consultation is: https://beta.bathnes.gov.uk/bath-quays-links-consultation/bath-quays-links-consultation
