Handrail
Safe working arrangements have been agreed to complete the handrail around land at the western end of Widcombe Parade. The contractor, IronArt of Larkhall, is due back next week. This WA project will provide an attractive and practical enclosure, as well as a useful safety feature particularly during icy weather.
Traffic in Bath
The Council is engaged in several initiatives regarding road traffic in our city. Short term measures such as temporary pavement widening to assist safe social distancing as the lockdown eases. Already planned: the Clean Air Zone now deferred to next year. Longer term: Low Traffic/Liveable Neighbourhoods, on which there is a current consultation. It is well worth spending a few minutes looking at this, including the map, before maybe submitting your own thoughts. As you would expect WA and other residents’ associations are formulating possible ideas, but the Council needs as wide a range of views as possible. https://bathnesliveablestreets . commonplace . is/about
Park User Survey
Another Council survey, this one in conjunction with Bristol City, to find out how lockdown has affected people’s views of parks across both local authorities. https://bnhc . onlinesurveys . ac . uk/bristol-and-bath-parks-survey20
Finally
The South West generally, including Widcombe, has so far been spared the worst impact of Covid 19. But we must not for a moment imagine that the virus is no longer with us. For most, it is no longer stay at home, but stay alert.
Keep yourself and others safe.
Alan Langton
(Widcombe Association Secretary)
