Dear Widcombe Association Member
Time for positivity. A lot of good things are happening in Widcombe.
More local businesses are reopening. Hair cut anybody?
Widcombe Social Club is reopening from this Friday (10th July). Details on the attached link.
The old public conveniences are demolished, with planning permission for a small office building.
Larkhall Butchers are taking the premises vacated by The Cakery.
Widcombe Association activities include:
The K6 telephone kiosk (to the design of Sir Giles Gilbert Scott) outside the White Hart, spruced up and planted, along with its lovely traditional lamp column.
At the other end of the Parade, land left over by the highway engineers is now flowering, enclosed by a handrail fabricated and installed by IronArt. Further work will plant alongside the main road and install a small gate at the top.
Next will be raised planters along the Parade itself. Watch out for more details.
We are still actively trying to install artwork in the subway following the loss of funding. Again watch this space.
Widcombe Magazine: although delayed, we now aim for August, as always delivered free to every local household.
Alan Langton
Widcombe Association Secretary
