Dear Widcombe Association Member
Sorry for a second February missive. Just two things.
Clean Air Zone
A reminder about the Council’s public events on Bath’s forthcoming Clean Air Zone. The next is on Monday 24 February, call in any time between 5 pm and 7 pm at Widcombe Social Club. Further details on the attached flier.
Weight Limit on Cleveland Bridge
As you may know, there is currently a temporary weight restriction on Cleveland Bridge as a precautionary measure before works are carried out to strengthen the Grade 2* listed structure. A petition has been launched seeking to have this restriction made permanent, an aim supported by, amongst others, the Federation of Bath Residents’ Associations and more particularly by your Widcombe Association Committee.
In line with our political neutrality, FoBRA, WA and probably others face a dilemma in fully supporting the substance of the petition, while distancing ourselves from the wider aspects of the petition website, which has been set up by and promotes a political party.
Without, therefore, either endorsing or detracting from the website as a whole, if you do feel moved to support the petition you can do so here: https://www . bathneslibdems . org . uk/cleveland_bridge_weight_restriction
Alternatively, if you prefer, you might consider writing direct to Highways England to express your views.
Alan Langton
Widcombe Association Secretary
