Dear Widcombe Association Member Current projects Widcombe Parade Planters: these are on order and we hope to install them in the autumn. Along with the White Hart telephone kiosk at one end and upgraded area of open land at the other, our aim is to enhance the centre as an even more attractive place to visit for shopping, leisure and services. Subway Murals: although set back by the loss of expected funding, we, Bear Flat Residents’ Association, and our chosen local artist, Sarah Owen, continue to work with the Council’s engineer seeking to add colour and vibrancy to the subway. I’ll keep you posted. For now, many thanks to our local councillors, Alison Born and Winston Duguid for their active support on these and other projects within Widcombe and Lyncombe Ward. Application for 5G Telecom Mast WA, Federation of Bath Residents’ Associations and others have objected to an application for a 20 m high telecom mast with associated ground level equipment. This is proposed close to the London Plane tree on the open area in front of the recently demolished former public conveniences. Our objection is directed to visual intrusion, inaccuracies and lack of informatoin about alternative locations. Further details at: https://www . bathnes . gov . uk/webfo Note that the closing date for further comments is upon us: 6th August. Widcombe Association AGM Although unavoidably deferred we now propose to hold our 2020 AGM in the evening of Thursday 22 October; if safe and practicable at Widcombe Social Club. Otherwise we propose to invite members to a zoom meeting. Either way it’s important that we can all meet to exchange views and renew the workings of the Association. So do please try and save the date. Beechen Cliff School – interim parking arrangements We have received the attached note from Beechen Cliff School regarding parking following their return in September. Although WA has opposed parking on the lower field, we accept that there is a case for the present, to enable the school to operate safely in these exceptional circumstance. Bath City Farm Many of us will know Bath City Farm from visits with our children or grandchildren. As with many other charities, Covid has hit them hard financially and so they are trying to raise £50,000 to keep themselves afloat. In addition to being a fun place to visit they do amazing work behind the scenes working with vulnerable people from all around Bath, work that is even more important during the Covid epidemic. This video explains some of the wonderful work they do https://youtu . be/D1CkQjhhiUk You can find their fundraising page at Help Bath City Farm stay open – Help Bath City Farm stay open – #BCF25 organized by Bath City Farm Alan Langton |
