Firstly apologies that these talking points have been delayed. Unfortunately our secretary, Liz Littlewood has had a serious fall. She is now out of hospital and we would like to wish her a good recovery.
Talking points:
– The committee received a presentation from Councillor Jasper Becker and a street sign designer about plans for a new Welcome to Widcombe sign proposed for the ramp opposite the Half Penny Bridge. These received general approval and hopefully will proceed soon, funded by Jasper’s councillors’ fund.
– B&NES have launched a parking survey for all Bath Residents. The link is https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/parkingstrategy2016 with a closing date of 19 December. We know there are concerns across Widcombe about parking and would encourage people to complete the survey.
– On issues relating to traffic and parking, we are still waiting for the B&NES promised Rossiter Road Review. This long delay is very disappointing. We feel this is urgent and are concerned about an apparent piecemeal approach to issues across Widcombe. We propose a discussion on this early in the New Year.
Next events are Pass a Poem (13 December at 7.30pm St Thomas a Becket church) and Widcombe Wayfarers walk (14 December, meet at 9.45am by the tree at the west end of Widcombe Parade).
The Mummers will welcome in 2017 on New Years Day starting at 12:00 to Widcombe Manor (or Widcombe Social Club in the event of inclement weather).
Looking ahead to the summer, the good news is that the opera will again take place at Widcombe Manor in June, with thanks to Mr & Mrs Bamford.
All that remains is to wish seasons greetings to you all and best wishes for 2017!
