Rossiter Road – We have been informed that it is intended to have a scheme that can be presented to the public by the end of September. Contract documents and road orders will be prepared by January 2014 with the advanced works contract being completed before then. We remain hopeful that work will be completed before the end of next year.
Halfpenny Bridge – We are still pursuing our objective of installing lighting across the bridge. Lighting designer Paul Ruffles has already produced an outline design and we are preparing to apply for planning permission.
Beechen Cliff – We have learned that a bid to have the Lyncombe Hill farm fields taken over by the NT would fail (leaving aside any consideration of managing Beechen Cliff) as there is a view that, as they are part of the WHS landscape, they are well enough protected without the added protection of being owned by the National Trust.
World Heritage Site Steering Group – WA chairman talked to Peter Metcalfe, the newly appointed chairman of The Bath WHSSG, who is interested in more unity for the city, and this includes making sure that those of us south of the river are kept in the mainstream. He is supportive of WA’s intention to improve the entries to Widcombe.
