Dear Members,
Here is the latest round-up of some of the things we have been discussing and planning recently.
South Bath Transport Options consultation
A series of public consultations events will be held from the end of March about South Bath Transport Options. At the events a number of transport options for South Bath, which could help improve connectivity and tackle some of the city’s wider issues such as congestion and air quality will be on show – this includes proposals for a cable car amongst other options. Details can be found via the WA website under News, where a link is provided and comments are invited online.
Dates for the consultation events are as follows:
· Saturday 8th April Lansdown (venue TBA), 9am-12pm
· Saturday 22nd April Southgate, 9am to 5pm
· Wednesday 26th April, Twerton (venue TBA), 6pm to 8pm
· Saturday 6th May, Weston (venue TBA), 9am to 12pm
We would like to encourage all our members to attend a consultation event, or look at the information online, and to make their views known via the online survey.
Changes in Waste collections
As you are probably aware, from November 6th, non-recyclable rubbish will be collected every other week. You will have been allocated either a black bag or a bin for your rubbish. It seems that some people are not sure which they have been allocated and, in some cases, it appears that bins have been allocated to properties where they are not appropriate. Here’s the link to the BANES website page where you can check your allocation. Further down the same page is the ‘request to change allocation’ button.
Opera at Widcombe Manor
On June 16th and 17th WA presents Bath Opera’s production of Verdi’s ‘Rigoletto’ in the wonderful setting of Widcombe Manor grounds. Tickets will sell out very fast for this ever-popular summer event, so take advantage of WA members’ priority booking which runs until April 16th.
Up-coming Events
1. Widcombe Wayfarers next walk will take place on Wednesday April 12th
2. WA Garden Club’s next meeting is on Weds April 19th when Graham Nicholls will speak on “Gold Medals, Superb Plants and running an Alpine Nursery”
Full details of all our events, including the Opera, can be found here.
Regards,
Liz Littlewood
