The Widcombe History Group
The Widcombe History Group meets once a month at St Mark's Community Centre in Widcombe. Members of the group are encouraged to pursue their own research and present findings to the group and ultimately to the archive, which is housed in the tower room at St Mark's.

Thursday May 8th - Living and Farming in Perrymead
Mrs Mackay will give an illustrated talk about her memories of the old nursery garden where Priory Close was later built, and Smallcombe Farm.
Sunday June 8th - Members only
Mrs Pat Robson of 7 Widcombe Terrace has kindly invited us to her interesting house, once a small coach house.
Sunday June 15th 1.30 - 7.30 pm - Widcombe Rising
The History Group will have a table at the street party and a window display on the theme of 'Fairs and Revels' along with an entertaining local walk. Come along and enjoy the fun!
Wednesday July 16th at 7.00 pm - A Walk around Holloway
This walk will make particular reference to old Holloway, which was mostly destroyed in the 60s, and will be led by members of the history group and people who have fond memories of the area.
Thursday September 4th - Achievers
A talk by Doreen Collyer about some local residents who made a mark in the arts , engineering, entertainment and other fields.
Thursday October 8th - Old Holloway progress
Members will tell us about their research on Old Holloway, and we will meet some former residents and hear tape recordings of their life there.
Thursday November 13th - Old Time Fairs and Village Revels
A talk by Mike Chapman, local researcher and writer.
Thursday December 11th 7.30 pm 11 Widcombe Crescent - Christmas meeting
Bring interesting old photos, tell us about family historyand new things you have discovered about Widcombe or Lyncombe or elsewhere. Refreshments.
