Who?

Energy Efficient Widcombe is a volunteer group within Transition Bath, and is working with the Widcombe Association and other local volunteer and professional groups. We are supported by Age Concern, Bath and B&NES Council .

What?

We aim to involve and assist as many Widcombe residents as possible to: save energy, reduce carbon emissions, and identify those in fuel poverty, and those at risk of early death because of cold houses. It will be a relevant service for all.

Why?

How?

What we've done so far:

Loan of an electricity monitor

Information on Services and Grants

A measure to test attic insulation

Contact about upcoming EEW events

What we need to do now:

We are contacting as many Widcombe organisations and individuals as we can to explain what we are doing and to recruit as many volunteers as we can. The volunteers will receive excellent training and will be invited to contribute six sessions of between one and three hours. Volunteers, in pairs, will choose a small number of homes in a locality of their choice; they will drop off a leaflet and then return to meet the householder and offer information and collect data. They will make a follow up visit where needed.

Together, we will offer everyone a confidential self completion energy audit. We will concentrate on simple solutions such as insulation & drought proofing; ideas for improving heating efficiency, and saving electricity. All of these can reduce fuel bills significantly. We will be able to put householders in touch with other services and sources of information relevant to their needs and preferences. We recognise that every situation is different.

We hope that every household will take up at least one energy saving action!!

COME AND JOIN US; we will also have some fun.
